What is the world coming to?

Have you ever heard this question? Usually those who ask it aren’t looking for an answer. They are fearfully wringing their hands and looking at the terrible sinful state that our nation is in and wonder if God can do anything to save our nation.

It shouldn’t surprise us that Canada and the world are in such a deplorable state. Jesus Christ, Himself prophesied of His coming in Matthew 24:37-39 “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38) For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39) And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Noah knew God’s judgment was coming. Instead of getting worried and depressed he preached to his friends and neighbors. Noah was 120 years building the ark and during all that time he didn’t stop preaching and witnessing and warning.

(Luke 17:28) Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

29) But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

30) Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

I believe the Lord Jesus Christ is drawing somewhat of a parallel between these two men, and by their examples giving us a choice as to how we are going to respond to the warning of His coming and the judgment. Both men were warned of the coming judgment, both warned their families at least. Noah’s sons heeded the warning and were saved, but Lot’s sons-in-law mocked him and he barely escaped with his two youngest daughters, but they were so affected by Sodom that they soon became pregnant by their father.

What made the difference in the response to the warnings of these two men? Noah’s sons saw his separation from the world and close fellowship with God. Lot’s daughters only saw his nearness to the world. Noah’s descendants formed the God-blessed nation of Israel. Lot’s sons by incest became the cursed nations of Ammon and Moab.

God has given us a warning of coming judgment for Canada. How will you respond to it. Will anyone heed your warning?
