Preparing a place for Him

David, the man whom God had anointed king over Israel His chosen people, here in Psalm 132 expresses his great desire to prepare a permanent place that Israel could come before God’s face and have a relationship and fellowship with Him.

God did not allow David to build the Temple but promised him that his son Solomon would build it The Bible tells us in Chronicles 22 that David “prepared abundantly” for the building of the Temple.

One would think that with all the prophecies in the Old Testament about the birth of Jesus Christ and where He would be born that the nation that God had chosen to bless and send His only begotten Son to, would have been ready to receive Him. However, in Luke 2:7 the Bible says, “And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.”

The Bible says in the first chapter in the Gospel of John that His own chosen nation did not want to receive Him as their messiah even though they knew He was. John 1:1-12 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

What a promise to those who do receive Him to become the sons of God just by believing on His name! Those who have believed in Him and turned from their sin and received Him as their Saviour have another promise in John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

If Jesus Christ is preparing a mansion for you in Heaven don’t you think you should prepare a place for Him here? I’m not talking about a church building or a cathedral. When a person is born again the Holy Spirit indwells them and their body becomes the temple of God here on this earth now. God deserves a beautiful pure holy place to dwell in on this earth. Is your heart a fit place for the God of Heaven and the Lord of Glory? Have you prepared a place for Him in your Heart?

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:

if any man hear my voice, and open the door,

I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

(Rev 3:20)

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

(1 Cor 3:16-17)
