Be still, and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

“Be still and know that I am God."
Read the words again and understand what you’re reading, This is a command from God… Something that He has told us to do. It is not just a suggestion of how He would like us to be. The action of obeying this command is to let go. He wants us to let go of the things that hinder our faith in Him and our fellowship with Him.
What keeps you from being quiet inside? Fear of failure! Fear of the future. Worrying over what might happen! In Isaiah chapter 45 God planned for Israel’s return from captivity long before they were carried away to Babylon. He “anointed” Cyrus king of the Persian Empire. God named him and clothed him before he was born. In the book of Ezra we see God told him to rebuild the Temple and Jerusalem. God was in control the whole time even though Israel had rejected Him as their God.
Can you imagine how edifying it would have been to Peter as he walked out to meet Jesus walking on the water to hear Thomas Call out, “Watch out Peter there comes a big wave!” or, “Peter, you’d better get back in the boat, that lightning is striking awfully close!”
We, like Peter, have enough trouble keeping our eyes of faith upon our Lord Jesus Christ without being constantly “warned” about the waves of wickedness that are driven by the prince and power of the air.
These things shouldn’t surprise us if we have our eyes of faith upon the Word of God. If we read more of His Word than just our favourite passages, we will keep our heads out of the sand, but won’t be fearful because we will know what this world is coming to, and that these things do not surprise God. We will also know that God has everything under His control, and the only thing that we need to fear is God himself.
Now the reason we can be still is simply because God is GOD! And our God makes things happen. That's why we can give Him control over everything that keeps us in turmoil. Are you willing to believe that God will act, if you be still and trust Him?
