“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers.
For there is no power but of God:
the powers that be are ordained of God.”
Romans 13:1
There are many things that Canadians consider when they vote for Prime Minister and the government that will lead our country and make our laws for the next four or five years. Some vote for the party and candidate that promise the most money. Others try to follow the polls and decide who is likely to win because they want to make their vote count. Still others try to find the candidate and party that will best uphold their beliefs and try to vote according to their conscience but can‘t agree with any of the political party’s platforms.
We know from the above scripture, as well as many other cross-references such as Daniel 2:21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:, that God in His omniscient providence sets up and removes the “Powers that be”. Therefore we must ask God for wisdom as He tells us and then vote according to the Will of God. The only way we could possibly vote according to our conscience and make the right choice is if our conscience is in accord with the will of God.
This October twenty-first the spiritual temperature of Canadian Christians will be revealed. It would be wonderful to have a government that would support Biblical values and turn Canada back to a Christian nation that pleases God. Whichever way the election goes, Canada will get the leader she deserves and it will be God’s will. Sometimes God’s will is to bless and sometimes it is to chasten.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14
May God give us wisdom.
